The guidebook item serves as a readable tutorial for the game with no other use. This item is great for new players, but doesn’t serve any function for players returning to the game that already know how to play. During my playthrough with friends, we experienced some frustration and confusion with certain items and environmental hazards. One solution to this problem was create a way to inform players about items and hazards they experienced in the past.

I decided to divided the book into three sections: Biomes, Environmental Hazards, and Food and Gear. The reworked guidebook section that all players to to jump to various sections. The reworked guidebook becomes more like a codex and adds to the game progression by giving players things to unlock instead of just serving as tutorial.
